REV’s mission principles include contribution to the future with social projects and buildings in many areas, chiefly in education.

EDUCATION

While on one hand, Rönesans increases its investments rapidly, on the other hand, it gives great importance to social responsibility activities and education. In this regard, the Rönesans Education Foundation was founded in 2009 by Rönesans Holding Honorary Chairman Bekir Ilıcak, aiming to provide grants to undergraduate and graduate students. Since its foundation, the Rönesans Education Foundation is carrying out its activities with the contributions of the Ilıcak family. As a matter of fact, to this date, the Rönesans Education Foundation has already provided grants to more than 6.500 students. However, the REV has not limited its activities with providing grants only. Constructing schools and administrative buildings and donating them to educational institutions; building libraries or providing books, stationery and information technology equipments to needy village schools are only some of the other activities carried out by the REV.

ENVIRONMENT

Rönesans Holding believes that protecting the environment and conserving the natural resources are very important for the operational life of a project. Therefore, Rönesans Holding generates sustainable alternatives in the design, construction and management of its projects, including reducing material requirements, waste to landfill, and water and energy use. In many urban and remote communities where Rönesans operates, it works collaboratively with different stakeholders to implement environmental sustainability programs to improve human health and local conditions, such as waste management, recycling, and conservation.

“DESIGN THE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE”

The young creators of the future, who were awarded as part of the “Design the Sustainable Future” contest that has been traditionalized by Rönesans Holding in order to provide university students with the “sustainability” culture, were announced in a ceremony organized on April 5.

The students ranking the highest in the contest, for which 954 groups and 1,930 persons from 125 different universities applied this year, will seize the opportunity of getting various prizes, as well as doing internship at Rönesans Holding.

This year, “Design Sustainable Future” contest, launched with the slogan of “Let the Sustainable Future Begin with You,” was organized in two categories, namely, the architecture and engineering, upon young people’s constant requests. As part of the contest consisting of the theme of “Green Buildings and Environment-Friendly Systems,” the aim was designated as the preparation of designs and projects in which environment-friendly systems complying with the sustainability criteria are used.

It was striking to see that the award winning projects were innovative projects, which changed the understanding in the field of engineering and architecture to take the greenery and nature to forefront. The importance was attached to the fact that the projects are sustainable, environment- and user-friendly and economic.

The jury members evaluated the projects under such criteria as sustainability, recycling, energy efficiency, mitigation of the waste, use of innovative materials, economic use of water, creation of a sustainable life and educational fields, and thus chose the winners.

Two contests, namely, the architecture and engineering, were organized this year. The awards were designated as follows: 20,000 TL for the first prize, 16,000 TL for the second prize, 14,000 TL for the third prize and 10,000 TL as the honorable mention.
